Emporium Bellingen

is situated on the ground floor of the historic Hammond and Wheatley Building. It opened in 1985 as a frock shop called Kakadu Clothing. Kakadu is a word and place sacred to the people who inhabit the land, so it was returned with thanks to the owners.

These days, the business identifies itself with the community and location to which it belongs. Bellingen, on the mid north coast of N.S.W, has been the context for Emporium Bellingen to grow into what is a complete men’s and women’s outfitters and homewares store.

We encourage you to come visit our wonderful town, attend a festival, discover the locally and ethically produced products available around town, and see how much effort is going into saving the local forests and rivers.

We welcome you to enjoy this heritage space which has remained throughout the ages as a boutique department store hosting a range of thoughtfully curated products from all over the world.

With this website we endeavour to present a comprehensive selection from our range and to showcase our community as a whole.

Mail order has always been a significant aspect of Emporium Bellingen, and those brown paper packages tied up with string help remind people between visits of the Bellingen experience.

Your online order will arrive at your door with the same love and care as you will experience in store.

The purpose of our website is to maintain communication with our existing client base, who already cherish the experience of entering our store, and as well to inspire a wider reaching audience with our online range.

We hope to encourage people who haven’t yet discovered us, to come and experience Bellingen, a flourishing and vibrant country town.
